When you register, we collect your username and a securely hashed version of your password. We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number unless you contact us directly.

We also collect usage data such as topics you create, votes you cast, and your category preferences. This data is used solely to operate the platform.

• To display your votes and topics on the platform
• To improve platform features and performance
• To prevent spam and abuse

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Passwords are never stored in plain text — we use SHA-256 hashing before storing.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

EGO uses browser localStorage to remember your login session. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Third-party services (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies as described in their own privacy policies.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase – database and backend (supabase.com)
• Tenor GIF API – GIF search for topic cards (tenor.com)
• Google AdSense – advertising (google.com/adsense). Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your username and votes are visible to other users as part of the platform's social features.

7. Children's Privacy

EGO is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@egovote.live. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised date. Continued use of EGO after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

By creating an account or using EGO, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. EGO is not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized account use.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use EGO to:

• Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or obscene
• Post content that promotes violence, discrimination, or hatred based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
• Spam, flood, or manipulate vote counts through bots or automation
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform
• Post personally identifiable information of others without their consent

4. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of debate topics and content you post. By posting on EGO, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content on the platform. You are solely responsible for the content you post.

5. Content Moderation

EGO reserves the right to remove any content that violates these Terms, without notice. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our policies.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

EGO is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the platform will be available at all times, error-free, or that content on the platform is accurate or reliable.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EGO shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

8. Advertising

EGO may display advertisements provided by third-party ad networks including Google AdSense. These ads are governed by the advertiser's own terms and policies. EGO does not endorse advertised products or services.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of EGO after updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will post the updated date above.

10. Governing Law
